Here's the summary of the actual bill. None of this republican bullshit accurately reflects what's happening except that the IRS has to be funded so it can compel rich people to pay their taxes. Because rightwingers try to defund the IRS so that rich people can avoid paying
Lots of good stuff in this bill too, letting medicare negotiate drug prices. Climate change stuff. 15% minimum corporate tax (so huge companies like amazon can't avoid paying federal taxes altogether like they frequently do)

The only tax change in the bill is that it institutes a 15% minimum corporate tax on companies that make over a billion dollars in profits in a year. Because normally big companies like Amazon skirt paying federal taxes altogether. That's the ONLY tax change in the bill and it's long overdue. And republicans opposed it. It is literally impossible to tax a corporation that sells goods. Their income is from selling goods to customers. The money they pay their taxes with comes from customers. They aren’t going to just go out of business (if they can help it), they are going to increase prices.

Even better than that. If every corporation sees taxes go up by 15%, none of them are at a disadvantage if they increase prices. Amazon can't just raise prices or else people will shop at Walmart. But if Walmart has to raise its prices too, then all you've actually done is devalued your currency by 15%.

Came here to post this. The dems straight up voted down along party lines an amendment that would limit the new irs agents to only audit those making over 400k a year.
The only thing that this does is make it harder for the lower class to work side jobs to try and get ahead, while the rich corporations will have their accountants simply fluff the numbers to show a yearly loss from innovation and investment removing their tax burden, just like they've been doing for years.
