Zoomer here, what were the pre-recession 2000's like? Were they as good as/better than the 90's or did things noticeably start to get worse? I was born in '03 so my experience is quite limited.

It was okay but I only see it as good now because I was a kid, and more importantly anything is better than what we have right now. I regret worshipping technology as much as I did but for us it was a new phenomena.
>t. 90s kid.

anything that came after 1945 is degenerate

Videogames, movies and the internet were better but that's about it

Oldfag here. Life has taken two objectively terrible steps. 1) internet becoming commonplace, 2) smart phones + social media explosion.
Life was amazing before these.

Politics were weird
Music was weird
Television was weird
Movies were hit or miss
Vidya got cooler
Internet was in its adolescence

>Zoomer here
prove it by posting noodle mutt hair

Politics were way less common in public discussion. People had opinions, but the average normie barely knew anything about politics. The internet was way simpler but it was genuine and filled with people doing things because they genuinely wanted to entertain or show you something cool. You mostly stuck with your small circles of interest so stuff like Any Forums was sorta common. A lot less butthurt jannies moderating and you mostly got on to shoot the shit or talk about a certain interest. New websites popped up and people eventually started going there so eventually the normies started to take over bit by bit. At first it was somewhat of an improvement as the normies actually made certain niches more profitable and able to do more things. However, when the normie quantity got too high you started getting corporations trying to take over the internet and it slowly over time led to what we have now.

Videogames were more basic, but they were complete packages. Older games were good, but often there would be retarded things that were unintuitive and game walkthroughs were rare. Unless you were playing a popular game you were fucked. That being said, good games were made more often as smaller studios could make games. The issue now is that too much is put into graphics which makes it harder for smaller teams to make games. I feel we'll likely see a resurgence of worse looking games or heavily stylized games because games are getting more expensive but getting progressively lower in quality in terms of gameplay.

When I was a kid cell phones were barely coming out and back then it was revolutionary to text. Eventually internet got added to those things and slowly we started adopting it. It was something only a handful people used at first, mostly for social media, eventually everyone had to use it for work and life in general. Lots of people thought it would only be a gimmick. I don't think anybody realized how big it would be.

Sorry to disappoint

it was pretty gay, better than current year and all but still pretty gay

The writing was on the wall, even in 1998. That was the first year I remember noticing that much fewer good music was making it to MTV and radio, most television programs were garbage and social justice was ramping up (at the time it was for gay "rights", then atheism in the 00s and now trans/nigger "rights").

Social justice was around in grunge music in the 90s, but America was decidedly Christian and white and no one thought it would ever gain any traction past gays getting married.

Well, look at us now. And, as such, all entertainment is absolutely dogshit now.

Nostalgia threads are slide threads. Don't fall for it.

Yep. The 90s started when USSR collapsed and ended with 9/11. The 90s was the golden age of America and global economy.

Slide threads get flooded with bots to keep it on page 1

You would never understand even if it were described. You kids are so fucked in the head it's unbelievable.

It was better than now but it was very evident that the internet and devices were about to swallow & destroy all social norms and traditions.

Already MSN and other early social medias and texting 24/7 on cell phones had begun and were mawling social cohesion in young people.

This album came out and it all went off a cliff. Your current boss was listening to this on repeat as a loser in high school and it shaped them into everything they are now.

I'm an oldfag. Life, in general, was very different in the 80s and 90s. The whole of society changed a huge amount when the internet came.

I am pretty sure that if you travelled 30 years back, you would be very surprised how different things were.

>Don't wanna be an American Idiot
>Don't want a nation under the new media
>And can you hear the sound of hysteria?
>The subliminal mind-fuck America
>Welcome to a new kind of tension
>All across the alienation
>Where everything isn't meant to be okay
>In television dreams of tomorrow

The easiest way for you to understand this is to play super nintendo games. Try to understand how people had the heart and soul that inspired those and you'll understand how the 90s were like.

also get off the internet for like a week.

1996-2007 was awesome, 2008-2012 was still ok but you could feed the decline and since then it's peak clown world intensifying.

Imagine society, but you didn't feel like it was going to collapse. Best way to put it. The beast was strong and beautiful.

I was born almost 20 years before you, and growing up in the 80's, being 10 through 18 in the 90's and seeing the attack on the Twin Towers and the rapid change the criminal Bush Cheney regime implemented, followed by Obummer like clockwork - the sixteen years it took to vastly change America-I can tell you that it is not just my perception, or that I am aging and thus trends and "what kids do these days is just my natural reactive disposition as an aging generation being displaced" - no, it is no e of this is natural or organic - just about as natural and organic as the rapidly changing racial demographics in the US.

Times were very different, I can't necessarily say they were "better" except economically, because that is an objective fact, however the mood and atmosphere now is very different - the 90s were very hopeful, the birth of public access and development of the internet was huge - internet is nothing what it used to be, this place, Any Forums's dark little corner, is about as close as we get nowadays in substance and form of the old internet.
We thought that the internet would revolutionize humanity, because of the instant access and freedom of Information - now the jews are shamelessly clamping down hard in their efforts to dominate and have total control over the internet, citing "misinformation"
> You goy¡m are too stupid to think for yourself and make up your own opinions based upon the wealth of information available, so we will do it for you.
Basically, essentially what they are saying.

Being a kid was a lot of fun, we didn't have pornography & sexual shit thrown at us or available at our fingertips via mobile fones like nowadays.
I work with zoomers, kids from 6 to 16 - so many of them are fucked up with weird sexual issues because they were exposed to degenerate pornography at a very early age. The '90s we were still innocent, boobs on TV was more of a common thing in the 80s, I distinctly remember seeing those boObs in The Rescuers kek
