Guys I'm very uninformed about military stuff but i read over on reddit (I know, sorry!) That USA can counter China's blockade.

So in the sense that USA attacks Chinese vessels this is entirely impossible since they won't fight a nuclear power over a tiny island that didn't give them any leverage.

But i wonder if there are some kind of formations which us vessels can make that would nullify the blockade. It feels more of a geometry question to me really than a feopoliyine but i wanted to ask smarter retards.

They’ll just run military escorts and dare the chinese to block them

The American fleet can destroy the Chinese fleet no questions asked, but to do so we'd risk loosing our navy to land based missiles. We could break through any naval blockade, but China can effectively blockade the island without a fleet. Taiwan does give leverage as well, the semiconductors/computer chips they make are critical to western economies. If Taiwan was blockaded, western even normies would crash.

ouch, getting a female cohost on your politics podcast
rookie move

If you want to condemn Erdogan, why would you draw him looking like a kurd? Illogical

You corrected my first assumption but how would china blockade taiwan without a naval fleet?

Do you have any historical events where something similar happened? A more powerful country running military escorts to nullify a less powerful country's blockade. Im curious to see how it plays out (or never does because the blockader knows he won't succeed)

good morning

anti ship missiles i assume, land based or not. Taiwan is well within range

>An Escort Group consisted of several small warships organized and trained to operate together protecting trade convoys. Escort groups were a World War II tactical innovation in anti-submarine warfare by the Royal Navy to combat the threat of the Kriegsmarine's "wolfpack" tactics. Early escort groups often contained destroyers, sloops, naval trawlers and, later, corvettes of differing specifications lacking the ability to maneuver together as a flotilla of similar warships, but rigorously trained in anti-submarine tactics to use teamwork emphasizing the unique sensors, weapons, speed, and turning radius of each ship. The development of these 'escort groups' proved an effective means of defending shipping convoys through the Battle of the Atlantic.

Somali Shebabs carry out attacks in Ethiopia

>Extremist group al-Shabab has taken advantage of Ethiopia's internal turmoil to cross the border from neighbouring Somalia in unprecedented attacks in recent weeks, according to a senior US military commander. The deadly incursions into Ethiopia, Africa's second most populous country and long considered an anchor of security in the Horn of Africa, are the latest sign of the scale of the recent war in the northern Tigray region and another ethnic fighting that has made the country more vulnerable. Ethiopia has long resisted cross-border attacks by al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab, including by deploying troops to Somalia, where the extremist group controls large rural areas in the southern and central regions of the country.

>Matt Bryden, a security analyst at the Sahan Foundation think tank, told the Associated Press that al-Shabab is turning its attention to Ethiopia in a significant strategic shift. The extremist group had never been able to conduct major operations inside Ethiopia. Al-Shabab has trained several thousand fighters for its Ethiopian "command", mainly Somalis and Oromos inside Ethiopia, says Matt Bryden. The Ethiopian federal government has said it fears al-Shabab could link up with the Oromo Liberation Army, which it has designated as a terrorist organisation.

>He warned that if Al-Shabab establishes a stronghold in south-eastern Ethiopia, "the consequences for peace and security in the region could be very serious". The fighters would be well placed to strike deeper into Ethiopia, Kenya and even as far west as Uganda. Al-Shabab has carried out several high-profile deadly attacks in Kenya over the years. the outgoing head of the US Africa Command, General Stephen Townsend, warned that Al-Shabab's activities inside Ethiopia were not an "isolated case" and said the fighters had penetrated as far as 150km into the country.
