80% of consumer purchases are made by women. I would imagine the demographic for those products are even more skewed to a gender. It's not so much millenials as a generation rather than it is the women who have been taught to be crass. They try to be like men, or rather what they think a man is.

We grew up with some of the most vulgar media: music, comedians and movies when it was at its peak and now were just conditioned to do it. It's not high brow comedy, but it's still comedy. Vulgarity is offensive, in certain contexts it becomes funny to swear due to the offensive aspect. Same reason a fart is funny in a church. This is basics of comedy. Just meant for low brows
