Nukes have to detonate on their own, not when someone else blows them up or interferes with their electronics. That's why absolute nuclear countermeasures have existed since 1958. As it turns out, detonating a nuke at high altitude rather than closer to the ground where the chain-reaction can continue will fuck craft and missiles, but the energy from a small-yield nuclear missile used to counter incoming planes and other nuclear missiles, of it's energy, only 15% of the yield turns out as radiation in that scenario.
