$491 million is still more than you'll ever need, but yeah, taxes are absurd. whenever I get a bonus or some overtime compensation my tax rate skyrockets, leaving my with like half of it before every a single penny arrived on my account (so VAT and so on are still going to subtract from it later on). if people had a better overview over their finances and realized how much is being taken away from them, you'd already have heads on pikes everywhere
