What are some strategies that you have used to get rid of homeless? Pic related has been migrating up and down a stretch of main road for weeks, taking refuge on a church campus for many days. He was observed by many citizens, myself included, half-naked, standing in the street screaming at cars and throwing shit. For whatever reason, he chose to move onto a curb at the end of a residential street (single family homes, not apartments). Burbank PD (well funded & trained, relatively small & safe suburb to patrol, NOT LAPD) were called and told neighbors “We can ask him to move on, but this is technically not an encampment. If it were an encampment, we could physically remove it.” I have been unsuccessful in finding BPD’s definition of an ‘encampment’. Additionally, apparently the piss bottle throwing, ranting guy standing in the lanes of a busy street must “accept” the mental health services (which have already been called for him multiple times) in order to take him in to a shelter or hospital.
So I ask cop bros & anyone else with experience: >What is your anti-homeless strategy? >What is an ‘encampment’? Does placing a cheap tent next to a homeless guy and then calling the cops work to get all their shit thrown away? >Is there some form of baiting that we can employ to at least grade the ‘choice’ of being hospitalized out of their hands? >What forms of PPE should be worn when renting a U-Haul and moving a homeless person to North Hollywood?
My favorite strategy is not living in a hell hole leftist city. Been several years since I last saw a homeless.

Give them an empty parking lot in some industrial zone so they can shoot up drugs and shit all over themselves. There’s a homeless man that sleeps in front of small business storefronts near me. He is always there in the morning and no one is doing anything about. He has a shit stain on his clothes. Disgusting. Most homeless people are either too retarded to live in a house or choose to be “unhoused” so they can leech off of all the benefits.
If you really want that disgusting freak gone, you should contact the media. Document the disgusting things that guy does and hopefully the police will be pressured into doing something. If not, give him a bunch of malt liquor so he can drink himself to death.

No. I shan’t be giving him food or water either. You have to communicate austerity to these people. You give them an inch (soccer mom brings him water and a sandwich) and they WILL take a mile (bum starts chilling in peoples lawns, knocking on doors, attracting other bums).
This plan is much more likely to work, but everyone has 3 security cameras these days and many people are sympathetic to the homeless and with go out of their way to fuck over someone who does something about it.

Provide land for Sheltered outdoor camping with provided cots and a police presence that ignores discrete drug use/sales, with a central large Indoor shelter for outreach resources and beds for at risk people like the elderly/children's, have bathrooms avail inside and outside, keep a small staff for maintenance, and have food bank installations on site. Have all of this far enough out of the city to keep them away while also being close enough to the city (bus line/bike path) that they won't abandon the encampment. All residents must sign a waiver of liability against city/county.
Yes there will be problems and costs, but the problems and the cost compared to letting them run rampant in the city is worse.
This sounds okay, except there should be an effort to identify mentally sound homeless people and put them to work doing the cleaning and for those that can, maintenance. The downtown cleaning crew we have in my city is basically all homeless or former homeless people, it's a bit of a make-work program but it keeps the streets clean. However...what are you going to do when someone gets too high or too desperate to get high and there are stabbings or shootings?

Even if this guy leaves, he'll just be replaced by another while your neighbors vote for all sorts of programs that will attract more homeless. Don’t want to normalize human shit on the streets in my neighborhood, but it’s a noble idea, user. You’re onto something here. What are the things the cops CAN (and WILL) take someone in for? What key evidence is needed at the scene for them to do this? public intoxication / consumption of alcohol? weapons? suspected stolen gear? I can easily go plant a rubber prop knife, plastic liquor bottle filled with water and a Walmart tent next to him the next time I see him. I just want to know from a cop: would anything happen then?

The issue is: the husbands understand what must be done, the wives, widows and spinsters want to #bekind. The solution to this issue is not to run from it. Burbank has been historically picturesque and extremely well managed at the city government level, but we do have to face this issue on occasion. It is likely coming to your town too, unless we are able to roll back women’s suffrage.
