If China strikes the first blow, it will make the american intervention more accepted in the world and it will be easier for the United States to come to the defense of Taiwan because the countries will be more willing to cooperate with the United States in its military intervention in favor of Taiwan.
China will most likely get nuked within the next hundred years. Taiwan will end up absorbing the mainland.
