That broom can be decontaminated. "Waste" refers to either spent fuel or the reactor assembly itself, which are the only things that have to undergo a decommissioning process. Contamination in a modern reactor for non-essential equipment and gear is negligible. Literally everything that was buried in Yucca mountain was from accident or experimentation that led to the modern set up. Modern reactors generate no waste and minimal decommisionable material.
