Those tanks in OPs pic are actually made for crossing the water to Taiwan, they are like duck boats. There is a video one sinking in the water online, if they worked out the kinks then they can cross to Taiwan as that is what they were made to do.

Those are amphibious vehicles designed for launching amphibious assaults on beaches. They can swim 20km or more.
