No one actually thinks like this, unless their brain is not working.
Odds are, Taiwan will leave it's agreement to reunite with the mainland, and remain a US ally with an artificially propped up high tech economy and maybe some official US military bases.
Maybe something else will happen, but last year the unofficial US military presence in the country was doubled, and they are sold enough fancy US military weapons and equipment to hold off China for up to 30 days or something like that.
The machines to manufacture most of the chips we use are in Taiwan, but the machines are purchased from other places and it is not really like Taiwan is the only place on earth we could possible make microchips, in fact it is kind of a pain in the ass that we do, just to prop up Taiwan and keep them happy and purchasing US military gear.
The grandparents and great grandparents of most of the people on that island escaped with their lives and what they could carry. They were robbed, lost all their land and most of their property and money, and had to watch many of their family members and friends get brutally murdered. Mao was really just too horrific for people in Taiwan to be OK with becoming part of China anyway.

The idiotic thing about it all is while we will totally be authoritarian to ourselves, when others try to do it to us we tend to rally very quickly and get indignant and violent.
