most Gen X parents I've seen have this really unusual mixture of their local accent mixed with general accent.
Boomers and older keep a classic local accent so it sounds right and Millennials and Zoomers usually speak in boring general english without any cultural background.

yes, i've noticed. this is why studying a second language should be mandatory. it forces you to learn grammar and syntax in a serious way, which is not only required to learn a second language but also will make you more conscious of your english.
