His policies worked to spur economic growth at the time but fucked over the American middle class in the long term. By his second term he was senile (even his son admits this) and his administration was being run by the same neocon shitbirds that ran the Ford and both Bush administrations (Rove, Rumsfeld, Cheney). The whole Republican Party was stuck on Reagan until 2016 and it stunted their position greatly.
