The UN rubberstamps anything the US does and looks the other way regardless of how many human rights violations it commits, while holding Russia and other US geopolitical opponents to stricter standards. It carried out crippling sanctions against Iraq which resulted in up to a half million infant deaths, and allowed the partition and bombing of Iraq by the US and Britain. It provided a convenient cover for US aggression.
Similarly in Iraq, the UN provided a platform for the 34-nation coalition that invaded Iraq in 1991 and the four-nation coalition that invaded in 2003. While the former got UN authorization for “all necessary means to uphold and implement Resolution 660” demanding withdrawal from Kuwait, no UN military action was contemplated for GWB in 2003. In 2003, the UN Security Council refused to endorse US plans to overthrow the Iraqi government directly on the clearly trumped-up charges of harboring WMDs. Following Clinton’s example in Serbia, a furious Dubya invaded anyway, claimed a quick victory, intending to leave a very reluctant UN to pick up the pieces.
There cannot be peace when such hypocrites as the United States have such heavy global influence and are deliberately targeting not only Russia, but also China and the great Arab and African nations of the world based on lies, high minded liberal idealism, and false moralism they fail to live up to and represent the polar opposite in their actions.

The UN is one example of why you cannot trust the US. Rather than defending the interests of the different nations of the world and common humanity, it has became little more than a rubber stamp for American imperialism. Particularly after 1967 but especially 1991, it had increasingly become a mouthpiece for US aggression and Israel’s occupation and invasions. General Assembly Resolution 3379 in 1975 pushed by the socialist bloc and USSR equated Zionism with racism. US challenged this and fought significantly against this characterization of Jewish ethnonationalism that engaged in imperialism, constant treaty violations, and war crimes against the Palestinian people whose land they colonized based upon a religious based story of a "national reawakening" and "rebirth" (sound familiar? It's essentially Jewish fascism). But after the cold war all the ex socialist countries at UN began to yield to the newly empowered hegemon and declared Zionism to be legitimate in 1991 at the behest of the USA.
And what motive could Russia have had for it? well getting America to fight the war that they couldn't win in the past against Afghanistan, which was always at the benefit of Israel.
