There's no walkability in that town. Towns should be built so people can safely abd comfortably walk 15-30 minute to reach their regular destinations:

>School
>Pharmacy/Grocery store
>Entertainment such as a park, pub, or restaurant.
And there should be convenient light rail or trolleys available to get to more distant destinations
Spreading everything out limits community formation and establishes a minimum required expenditure just to exist.

So thousands of dollars a year, just to live.

Someone, somewhere, devised and implementated a policy that causes your town to become diverse. They might have even done so knowing (and hoping) that would happen.

Founded in the south by Bavarians in the 1870's. A convent and two monasteries in town, one that exclusively says mass in the extraordinary form (former sedevacantists, reconciled with the holy see) . Sacred heart church seen here dates back to the founding of the town. Very nearby, hanceville has the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament where Mother Angelica spent her later years and Brett Kavanaugh regularly serves as a lector. And the local community college / technical school. Does it get any better than this in usa ?
