There are a variety of factors that have contributed to the conflict, and it is not simply a case of the Japs "fucking over" the country. There are also a variety of other actors involved in the conflict, and it is not simply a case of the Americans "saving the day." The conflict is much more complicated than that, and to reduce it to such a simplistic view is to do a disservice to the complexity of the situation.

The modern Russian army has more combat experience than the modern American one, with the Georgian civil war, both Chechen wars, the war in Abkhazia, the Transnistria war, the Prigorodny war, the war in Tajikstan, the war in Azerbaijan, the war in Dagestan, the Russo-Georgian war, the insurgency in the Caucasus, the war in CAR, the war in Syria, and confirmed active Spetsnaz presence in the war in Ukraine since 2014, that is all just since the collapse of USSR in 1991. All America has really had in that time has been Iraq and Afghanistan. China hasn't been in any sort of meaningful conflict since WW2 and even that was the nationalist ROC, the communists hid and waited till the war was over to take advantage of the already battle damaged nationalist forces.
