Why is it okay for police forces to have access to military technology/weapons?

Why is it okay for police forces across the US and this includes Europe too to have full access to military hardware but it is frowned upon for every day citizens to simply own a magazine fed rifle? Isn't the job of the police to simply uphold the law in society and police the populace? Why do the police have the right to get full access to weapons of war and military technology designed to kill people as efficiently as possible? Seems like double standard to me since everyday citizens are constantly having their gun rights questioned, threatened, or almost completely taken away like Europe countries yet police arsenals have expanded considerably.

You ask such a silly question. First of all police are government forces, the answer is that they fight for whoever is in power. They will fight for the impotent cuckservative AND then they will fight for the tranny loving democrat. They are the public force who is totally incompetent their their own job but for some reason can enforce commands of a official at a whim. At least with a private militia you have true community enforcing it's laws and norms. Private forces do exactly what they are told to and you get what you paid for.
