I think the pursuit of hedonism, if you have the means, can be a somewhat fulfilling experience particularly in young life. However, what you'll find is that you're pursuing the pleasure you get from certain things like social interactions, sex, smoking, alcohol, drugs, porn, etc. And you can press those buttons and get a reward pretty consistently for a pretty long time, but it does indeed require some reset to keep working.
So I guess what I'm saying is, the addictive cycle of hedonism and degeneracy is tricky because if you don't take breaks from indulgence, you will certainly be forced to take a break when your actions paint you into a corner of poverty or social catastrophe as a result of that pursuit.
tl;dr: have fun but like, if you make it your identity, it will run out. you'll be given a "forced break" at some point, be it through social ostracization, legal issues, or health complications from prolonged degenning. If you manage to limit your indulgence to appropriate times, you can probably do it forever (see: cigar smokers with fancy sipping liquors vs a pack of marlboros and 6 well shots from the bar)

I think the key to life and happiness is to not burn out your dopamine receptors. To live a simple life and to be content with what you have/ what you can get. I've lived a life of hedonism in my youth, I've done so many women and I've went down this degeneracy pipeline and while it was fun and a rush, ultimately it was unfulfilling and make me able to appreciate and "feel" things a lot less.
