Politicians have already said food scarcity is on the menu this winter and in the coming times ahead.
Did you plant a garden this year?

Yes and I’ve gotten a shit ton of squash. I’ve hardly had any tomatoes come in and hardly any peppers too.
Btw is there a good way to store broccoli long term that you know of?
Feed it to rabbits, kill rabbit, freeze meat. Eat when famine comes.
I just made my first harvest, a couple tiny squashes and zucchini, a good 10 ounces of tomatillos, some onions, it's all going into a stir fry with some of my own Japanese lime leaves and ginger.
Freeze it
Pickle it with fermentation, it will last many months.
pickling or freezing or canning, you can also try a food dehydrator but i've never dehydrated broccoli. Might be good to dehydrate it in the oven a bit and then freeze it. Rehydrate when you cook it.
I'm going to freeze dry all my greens soon and powder them. Sadly greens don't freeze dry intact, but they make a great powdered ingredient.
I saw a freeze dryer, $3000, and I am tempted. You could make all kinds of specialty products and sell them for a lot of money. Frozen ice cream bars, for instance? Several bucks a pop at the cheapest, and there's only one company that makes 'em. Camping or survival food, specialty products like caviar can be freeze dried, the possibilities are endless.
First try... All seeds rot get other plan it's worked but I burnt it on the sun.
Bought small trees and plant them it works.
you can raise the seeds indoors for a while then acclimate them to the sun before you put them into the ground, it's called hardening
Yes, here is a video of my grow
Nope rabbits are riddled with tumours
rabbits have glands that you have to remove same as any rodent
lots of people blame these "tumors" for "bursting and ruining the meat" but that's just because you have to remove them when you dress the animal, the more you know
Blanch then freeze.
prep broccoli
Boil a pot of water with 1 tsp of non iodized salt per 1 gal of water
Cook for 3 minutes
Strain and shock it in ice water(helps retain color)
Strain again
now you can either freeze it on a tray then put in freezer bag, vacuum seal(best) or freezer safe containers. OR just put it all in if you don't care about it freezing together.
This year and every year. My dinner last night cost me about 5 cents in rice and seasonings and the rest was out of my garden. Feels great.
gotta stake them beans sven
In theory you can, but each cycle takes at least two days. If I had a Mormon wife it would be amazing, but I live alone and I barely have time to properly cook for myself normally. I try to use mine as much as I can, but I don't use it as much as I should. Last big thing I did was a week's worth of meals for a buddy who was doing a backpacking trip and it took me like a week to freeze everything.
I wanted to do designer high nutrition high protein rations, but it just isn't big enough to scale for retail in my experience. And I don't have the six figures to get an industrial one. But if you wanted to good luck.
Retired by 40 on YouTube does a really through review of them. Just be warned. It never looks very good after it's been dried. These all got race reviews from the end users.
Also not everything freeze dried well. There's a lot of experimentation you need to do to figure out what actually works. It's an entirely different type of cooking and there aren't a lot of books or tutorials.
General rule is anything that can be a casserole or soup/stew. Can freeze dry. Other stuff is a bit of a dice roll. But yes you absolutely can make your own astronaut ice cream.
Yeah I eat food from it almost every day.
