On a more abstract level, capital theft does threaten someone's life. If someone lives on a farm where they live and die by the status of crops and cattle, or their farm equipment is the only reliable way to obtain water for crops, cattle, and yourself, then a theft is a literal threat to your life. Theft of property is a more abstract threat to life, but still exists. What is your idea to defend property?
Just as well, adding instant death to the potential outcomes of an attempted theft raises the risk and lowers the expected value of robbery. It thereby reduces crime and keeps a community safer. What is your plan to reduce crime?
