I understand that he says people should build paradise on earth now, but I don’t see how religion prevents you to.

As we see, plenty of civilizations rose and contributed to arts and science before communism.

3. "The heart of a heartless world". It isn't necessary to attack religion, just remove the social conditions that make it necessary.
4. Better examples of how religion might prevent you are given in Weber instead. Particularly in the case of the forms of Protestantism that gave rise to capitalism.

Because religion confers the lessons of morality via allegory/storytelling/narrative superstructure.

I don’t understand it either. The Abrahamic religions put a great amount of importance on giving to charity and helping the poor. Both Jesus and Muhammad said that it is easier to get into Heaven/Jannah if you are poor.

People forget that Engels wasn't from a Jewish background and that he edited or ghost wrote much of Marx's stuff.

Because marxism comes from hegeliaism. And hegelianism is basically a religion in itself. Marx's explanation of the world was a materialistic hegelianism, thus marxism itself is some kind of religion. (materialistic heglianism ultimately doesnt make sense, imo. But that is a another matter)
