Extracting and refining oil is very expensive. These companies spend trillions of dollars on oil and gas extraction and refining. considering its scarcity and usefulness, fossil fuels are actually selling at bargain basement prices right now.
If you want oil companies to find more oil, then the price must rise. If you want the world to use less oil, then the price must rise. High prices cure high prices.
