This semiconductor bill just passed by the democrats likely will cool the situation over there. It'll take some time, but at least it presents the USA with an exit-plan from Taiwan. So we're not so dependent there anymore
Our main interest in Taiwan is semiconductors. Which no one wants to manufacture in the US. No American company wants anything to do with them. Because "the free market" is bullshit. So Democrats would like to create a nationalized semi-conductor manufacturer, but that's not happening in rightwing America, so they were instead able to get a 50 billion dollar subsidy passed to fund private companies to produce the semiconductors
It's a shitty solution because it's the awful private industry capitalist solution, but it's waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than nothing (which is what the republicans claimed they wanted to do).
So now we at least have an exit-plan from Taiwan and can maybe avoid WW3. And we'll have semiconductors which we desperately need

You know what I mean, because the situation is effectively that you let private industries hold the US government hostage. And say "oh yeah? you want me to make semiconductors? Well I'm not going to unless you give me 50 billion!". That's the rightwing way. Then they spin it after to blame democrats somehow
The democrat way would just be to seize the private industry and force them to produce the semiconductors not for profit, but for public good. And pay all of the employees a living wage + pass on savings to consumers too. But rightwingers won't let that happen
