Get rid of cars apart from electric ones
Make population entirely dependent on public transport and car chargers

I mean--walkable neighborhoods are nicer to live in. Sorry but its true. I like being able to walk to stores, I like being able to walk to go have some drinks, I like not having to worry about getting killed by a car while I do so. I like old people being able to walk to social engagements or doctor appointments. I like kids being able to walk to school and afterwards to a park. I like the poor being able to find a job in walking distance so they dont go broke on auto payments.
Walkable neighborhoods are just plain nicer to live in and many people feel this way. They are also better for infrastructure viability which is also kind of important if you care about long term city health.

Fun fact-- cars kill almost as many Americans as guns do! And left wingers actually hate it when people are killed. We find it sad and want a better world where children don't have to worry about being crushed by cars when they ride their bikes home from school or while they walk to a park with their friends. Crazy, I know. Meanwhile right wingers hate everyone except themselves. Those kids should have been driving, I guess.

It's mostly urbanists who are mentally stuck in 19th century Europe, but yeah there are some midwit leftists too who simply hate cars, first of all high density urbanism is not some standard, in late 19th century with industrial revolution factories were set up in cities, this coupled with high rural birth rates prompted immigration to cities causing high density housing hence urbanism, This peaked in first half of 20th century, after the second World War we saw baby boom and building of new Infrastructure (Highways) coupled with Industrial decline in US, people no longer had any reason to live in cities because the factories all shut down, people no longer needed to live in cities because they could simply commute to their office job from suburbs (which offered them affordable housing). It's no longer 19th century, we don't need high density housing, a lot of work is remote and people have cars.

Most people in US live in suburbs not cities, specially the people with stable income and families, nobody aside from violent niggers, homeless junkies and 100k in burger flipping wagies live in US cities.
