Is it time for a new major religion? I believe there may be something higher but I just find the jewish interpretation/contemplation of it unsatisfactory.
I propose that if there were a truly all knowing conscious being it would clearly have a higher capacity for mercy and problem solving than us. After all we can see these changes in our own society, no more chopping off thieves hands, gratuitous violence in warfare, less “cruel and unusual” punishments in first world countries. Yet this eternal torture pit solution of the hebrews is clearly at odds with such an trend and why wouldn’t it be, it’s clearly a product of the time period in which it was discussed and the people discussing it.

Its very possible the bible and other religions are divinely inspired, without telling the whole story, if such a thing could be told.
