The volume of work you would have to do to lose weight while even having a 3000 calorie (kcal) diet is ridiculous.
I know this personally as a former college swimmer who also did field events for track.
While doing 3-4 hours a day of working out I could still gain weight if I ate 4-5000 calories a day. and eating that much is far easier then you can imagine. It isn't until you get into force feeding yourself to gain huge amounts of mass that eating becomes a chore, and there is no fucking way you won't gain weight unless you are as big as someone like Brian Shaw.
your body's response to physical stress is to put on mass in multiple ways. Calories in and calories out is good for most retards that don't actually train anything, but macros are far more important if you do train.

they get dejected all the damn time about 2-3 weeks in because they actually gain weight due to adding muscle mass, and that is even on restricted calorie diets.
