Lawfags, get in here. First, let me say I like Alex Jones, am a long-time listener, and generally hate the Sandy hook gun grabbing fascists.

Now, what has happened so far:
1) Alex Jones and Infowars are sued by defamation by political hacks and democrat lawyers for political purposes using Sandy hook and defamation as cover (this is not unusual, for example we see environmental lawsuits by business interests, etc.)
2) Jones' lawyers fuck up somehow, somehow piss off judge during discovery, judge issues summary judgement against Alex and Infowars
3) Naturally, his lawyers appeal, up to Supreme Court. Turned down at ever turn, the original judgement stands
4) Trial is set to determine damages after Alex already lost original trial. Alex is pushing for some sort of jury nullification with an award of close to nothing (this is a Hail Mary long shot)

Clearly, he's whistling past the graveyard. What the fuck did they do in the original trial that fucked up so badly? And it's not just once, he's lost 4 of these cases!!

LAND OF THE FREE!!

lmao what a joke

I have a cousin who attended Sandy Hook Elementary School and I can assure you it really happened.

What is very frustrating is no one covers or cares about the legal process, even Alex is like this when he talks about it. If you cant even get the process right, what hope do you have of defending yourself in court?

Are his lawyers complete morons? There is also the chance the judge is a political hack, but you can petition judges to be removed from cases, etc. if you have good lawyers

I'm not concerned about if it happened or not, but the legal process. The standard defense in defamation is truth, but he didn't even get there because the judge sided with the plaintiffs and award a summary judgement. You cant get that very easily and it almost never happens unless the defense fucked up big time

There's also a much much larger chance that you and OP are total faggots for giving a fuck what the MOSSAD jew Alex Jones has to fucking say about anything.

To be clear, it did in fact happen.

Procedure is tricky. Time gated and if you don't do things correctly, such as argue a motion or object on time you lose the right to argue that point. Irrc Jones lawyers didn't want to comply with some sort of discovery request and essentially defaulted on case. You're pretty much fucked at that point.

It sucks. Lawsuits take a ton of time and money, and can clearly be used to silence people. The people funding these attempts have endless cash and you can't really point that out and claim the case is unfair, you are being harassed in court, etc. There is very little one can do other than try to fight the cases and hope they get dismissed with prejudice.

The thing is, procedure matters. It's not like Jones couldn't hire a half decent firm. Not that he only needed to hire the best legal minds, but did he only hire people that barely passed the bar? How could they have fucked up so badly, 4 times!?

He's now on his show shouting about 1st amendment, right to jury trial, etc. and none of it makes any sense considering it's a civil matter and I'm strongly suspecting the defense simply fucked up instead of making a good effort, no matter how much money and high-powered, white shoe, politically connected firms the plaintiffs have

I don’t know the case, but I agree, truth must be adjudicated by triers of fact - the jury. AJ just have admitted it was true, that he knew it was true, somewhere. That’s the only way it makes sense.

It did happen; they did not deserve it.

But it didn't even get there. The fuck ups on the defense side (so badly) lead to the judge issuing a summary judgement, no easy feat no matter how much of a hack someone may be

Haven't watched him in a while buy yes all that stuff matters in a civil trial, and yes you can get a jury in a civil case. Irrc, what jones did was essentially stipulate guilt and proceed to argue damages on the merits. Obviously if you stipulate guilt, and I forget how he did that, if by refusing to comply with discovery requests or just admitting it, the end result of either is you lose the ability to argue that stuff. Saved him maybe money in litigation but it only works if he can address damages.

His lawyers didn't F up. Jones gave more discovery in history than anyone and literal days of depositions and 3 separate judges in 3 separate districts all defaulted him at roughly the same time (collusion). It's a total sham.

If his end goal is jury nullification in the damages portion of the trial, he's a bigger moron than he sounds like... He might as well argue ineffective representation from his lawyers in hopes of a new trial upon appeal. He would have better odds

I can buy that, but how would all 3 decisions possibly stand upon appeal? I'm assuming his lawyers appealed all of them, read at least one went all the way up to Supreme Court but none of the cases taken

He wants to get litigation as soon as possible as most of his money is overseas and it was an unwinnable case. Once he pays damages which will be lower than his total net worth he just retires or continues on. He said the government closed most of his accounts, whose to say there are accounts are not closed. His fans will agree with whatever he says, most likely on the lines of “I was railroaded at trial”

Now we're getting somewhere. Why cant he just come clean about it...

He should be in prison

Alex Jones is just controlled opposition. He’s allowed to speak out on many things but does so in a manner that maintains the crazy conspiracy theorist image. He loses law suits as a way to discredit himself so that no one can ever rationally discuss his content with normies because they will just point to the lawsuits. It’s a way of maintaining echo chambers while simultaneously stirring shit up
