I always knew that Cyberpunk Dystopia would come from the Gulf. They're the only ones with the money, the blank canvas of their deserted environment, and their apparent desire for hyper-industrialization.
I just always pictured the Blade Runner type of cities to emerge first in the Arabian Gulf, flooded with the underclass of flips and pajeets to perform the slave labor, in their already well established two-tier society.
Another easy guess would have been a high density, low land mass area like Singapore but I always got the feeling it was going to be some form of mega city strip merging the UAEs.
