That's pretty disingenuous, given that it existed in strip clubs first, existed purely in strip clubs and nowhere else for a long time, and was adapted specifically to show off the female body in a strip club for sexual purposes. Yeah, "pole fitness" was always a semi-slutty activity, even when done by middle-age moms trying to recapture their youth, and men aren't crazy to be bothered by children doing it, since it forces us to have the unpleasant association between children and sex.

This is pretty typical for how women navigate sexuality though. There's the first layer where the activity is explicitly sexual and associated purely with sluts. Then there's the second layer where "non-sluts" "recapture" the activity for non-sexual purposes. But the second layer is really just a cover for the third layer, which is the "non-sluts" sexualizing themselves for attention while also denying all the negative social consequences that would normally be associated with slutting it up. The acceptance of leggings as being equivalent to pants is a good example of this as well. It's really just about the ability to flaunt their bodies without being appropriately judged for doing so.
