$76 billion in subsidies and tax breaks to American semiconductor manufacturers

Can someone explain why this isn't just called 'welfare' for these manufacturers? It's disingenuous that the 'fiscal conservative principles' of guys like Romney never ever get invoked when it comes to free money for companies.

US Senate approves #CHIPSAct, awarding $76 billion in subsidies and tax breaks to American semiconductor manufacturers. The bill now goes to the House.

totally sick.
Im going to throw up.
sure, build some chip plants somewhere else, but don't build them in the usa.
Build them in some cheap place.
This is a disaster.
this will bankrupt us.

Semi-conductor fabs are strategic industrial assets and the NATO line is to keep them american and viable.

Nobody can stop what is coming.

Hopefully soxl goes back to $57 now

It is but they see it as an investment in the States GDP so it should create jobs directly and indirectly. But on the same note all the infrastructure bills that passed didn't do shit for roads, bridges, rail etc. So taxation without representation.

Because Rightwingers fear using dictionary words that make them feel bad

trump did it

None of this money will stay in the US. All the fabs are still located in Asia.

There are certain industries that a country should keep in house no matter the cost.

This is one of them.

If the jews are already this mad maybe it's a good thing.

They all did it, just another way to build in pork and money laundering. They are all crooks.

Fuck it, chinks stole it, we need it back and to lock them out

And here is where capitalist faggots' brains start to melt.
Government intervention and investment is the real driver behind innovation and industry. Just as it was with the silicon valley 70 years ago, and so it is today.

The market deems it so moving strategic industries to labour and reasearch cheap Asian nations is the winning move. The market deems that leaving only marketing and strategy in house is the winning move. But anyone with a brain can see that having chip manufacturing onshore is strategically important for nations future.

Intel has chip factories in Israel and Costa Rica

>Semi-conductor fabs are strategic industrial assets and the NATO line is to keep them american and viable.
I'm not disagreeing with that. My point is that it's retarded to pretend this isn't just 'gibs'. It's tax payers money being given to them for free no matter what they want to call it.

I agree.
These same politicians would go into hysterics though if someone suggested nationalisation of any industry like that too, which would prevent any of it going overseas at least.

In any case, the reality is everyone knows it's a good thing to spend tax dollars on these industries so maybe it should just be accepted for what it is instead of everyone having to pretend they have 'free market principles' which in reality are only ever used as a front to shoot down spending on things they personally dislike for petty reasons.

Taiwan right

these plants will all be unionized and unproductive. they will all be money losers.
So the tax payer will have to endlessly subsidize them.
INstead, these plants should be built some cheap, like mexico. but when you use government money, the politics take precedence, so the plants 'must' be built in a swing state like ohio. economic considerations are put aside. If this thing is ever built, intel processors will probably double in price, or more. enjoy paying 1000 dollars for a mid range cpu.

semiconductor fabs are insanely expensive to start up and they're a critical economic and national security element

DESU I do not see a future of US onshore silicon.
WOrkign at these fabs requires 1-2 PhD's (no, really its very common) and the pay is meh compared to many fields in the US - 60k-ish.

Imagine you're a bright mind wanting to work on chips in the US, you first need to get into about 200k worth of debt to then earn 60k without an opportunity for promotion. A person like that would jump to data science in a heart beat to make 3-5x that amount to start.

shut up you dumb fucking nigger retard

Usually most of it is a form of indirect or direct gibs and has nothing to do with those slogans being parroted all the time.

And some jews may be going bankrupt so there’s a pressure for more gibs via scams involving energy, EVs, fake environmentalism, military and national insecurity, …

This, it took the government to intervene in the 50s to build the interstates that helped many returning veterans with jobs that created a time of prosperity. But of course both have it's pros and cons but any business looking to open a plant or warehouse in a state or city seeks tax breaks and grants (ie Amazon) so this is nothing new and shocking, it brings jobs and money to an area which is good for local and state taxes.

They only get it if they manufacture offshore in China or Taiwan. This is how you make America secure and technologically independent according to democrats.

I shit you not

NOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHY NANCY WANTS TO GO TO TAIWAN ? To set up kickbacks and bribes in face to face secret conversations. There is nothing else there for her, no movie stars, no famous beaches and resorts, just graft and democrat corruption as they loot the treasury of the American people. This was the plan all along.

Why is the wage for chips so low?
>t. Data scientist, ironically

Amazon, an artificial company by the jews that survives via scams, gibs and cartels.
Muh roads, that are built as expensive as possible to circulate more gibs.

Funny how Sanders voted against bringing back jobs to the USA.....

I worked for one fab. They are non-union and the more advanced ones are mostly automated.

Meanwhile any real form of investment was replaced by government gibs and printed money, both controlled by jews.
And what is called investment nowadays is funneling a tiny amount of printed money for dumb goyim, or just gambling.

???

Intel TSMC and Samsung already have plans to build the fabs in the US. The tax breaks and grants are going to those plants

it would be cheaper to give nukes to taiwan.

High qualification low effort job.
Same with nuclear scientists attached to a power plant.

america is already bankrupt with 1000% of gdp in unfunded liabilities if you include medicare, private debt, pesion liabilities, gov debt, social sec. this hole cant be climbed the question is when it falters not if. this is serious death spiral material not some guys lets tighten the belt thing but i am sure you know that.
and the states defaulted in the 70s on gold.

whats funny about the chip thing is that other than with russia situation, the states are here in need to pull out of taiwan with crucial sector. this takes years. but its funny. tik, tok, tik, tok

Nancy with another perfect timing investment

it definitely is, because of their failure to protect our domestic chip industry from moving abroad in the first place.

well this isn't just a fab. it's the whole thing.
