The most effective Chinese propaganda is not overtly political. The most effective Chinese prop is just video montages of their downtowns or some pretty temples and smiling villagers. Everybody in America has a negative view of society now so if you can depict China as a place on the rise and everybody is happy and their cities are dazzling and their temples are beautiful and even little village people are enjoying life then that is what will brainwash people in the west to at least be neutral towards them.
But when China comes out swimming with the "We are powerful our system is number 1!" it alienates people in the west.
But this isn't really effective propaganda in the West. This is great for Chinese people. Overt displays of militarism are ways to foster domestic pride but to the outside world it comes off as a insecurity and having to prove yourself to the world. DPRK puts on better military parades yet China is clearly a better power than DPRK. Once again, their domestic propaganda is great for Chinese people but nothing translates to be effective for the West. The best propaganda they have for Westerners are the travel vlogs where they get some supposed native Uyghur girl to vlog Xinjiang and say how great it is without going into politics.

it's the same problem that prevents china from becoming a global influence like america is, they are insulated, most of their population have no experience of western culture and no interaction with it, they mainly copy stuff on the surface level like the wolf warrior stuff and other rara america shit from 80s and then make chinese versions of it thinking that those will influence western countries like american movies have influenced west in the past, there never will be chinese century because of this, they live in a literal bubble and rest of the world doesn't even know about china other than the surface level shit they push here, but they would have to open up which poses a risk of them being subverted instead of them subverting the west, what do?
