That ultimate sacred cow, is freedom.
In the US, the left and the right both accuse the other of being anti-freedom. The truth is that neither side is willing to question this sacred cow. But the reason why America is collapsing as a nation is because we've taken freedom too far and nobody is willing to point this out.
Everybody knows now that the dating apps have ruined dating. Everybody knows now that the divorce courts are destroying our marriages. Everybody knows that adultery is an epidemic. Everybody knows that crime is spiraling out of control in our inner cities. Everybody knows we're the most drug addicted society that has possibly ever existed. Everybody knows that the internet is absolutely infested with disgusting smut videos that glorify violent sex, as well as adultery, bestiality, and incest.
But our society is so fucking committed to our sacred cow of freedom... That anybody who suggests just fucking banning these dating apps, or just banning all the disgusting pornography out there, or limiting contraceptives to married couples, or actually unleashing the police on criminals and letting them beat, imprison, and shoot criminals with impunity until our streets are safe again...
Anyone who suggests this as a solution will immediately get pounced on by both left wingers and right-wingers. It used to be common sense that we need a balance between total control and total freedom but nowadays, the only goals you're allowed to strive for in public is either social justice or freedom. The only reason why the social justice crowd is losing is because they antagonized the freedom crowd too much.
But our society now, is willing to sacrifice marriage, love, family, joy, stability, security, and innocence... All on the altar of freedom. And until we recognize that fact and start accepting that total freedom is not a worthy goal. Everything that actually makes us happy will continue to be destroyed in-front of our very eyes because you refuse to violate the sacred cow.

Again, the solution to all these problems is so fucking simple but people won't do it because they literally believe that conceptual morality is superior to consequential morality.
What is good for a society is whatever brings about the best consequences. If that means deporting all the jews, then so be it. If that means stripping women of their voting rights then so be it. The reason people won't support shit like that is not because stripping women of their voting rights would actually harm in any substantive way but because they are obsessed with conceptual morality which dictates that women have to be given the same rights as men have.
But the truth is, they don't need to be. I am only concerned with consequential morality. Conceptual morality is destroying our country.

It was just the thing to do in high school. Almost everyone was doing lortabs and Xanax. I didn't want to be an anime nerd anymore so I started doing them too to fit in. Now I've got a lifelong monkey on my back and I'm still a nerd. I will say having a habit forces you to be social and network but everyone you meet is some degree of a scumbag. I appreciate your sympathy. I was clean for two years but went back because I was so full of despair. I've been hiding it from my girlfriend and family for 3 years now. Everyone thinks I'm clean but the cracks are starting to show. I want to change but it's so hard to go back to that feeling of absolute emptiness.
