I don't think you understand what a bargaining position is. Alberta pretty much single handedly floats the entire economy of Canada. We have literally all the bargaining chips, unlike Quebec when ever they talk about leaving. When Quebec talks sovereignty Ottawa says "do what we say or we'll stop giving you money" but when Alberta talks sovereignty what will they say? "Do what we say or.....we'll stop taking your money" lol. It might not be soon but it's inevitable at this point. Alberta might not become an independent country but we will have our sovereignty laws where the federal government can no longer control our access to our own resources.

Union? Unlike the Quebec issue where they wanted power to protect their distinct culture and were given a bunch of extra powers in addition to exclusive power to pick some of the Supreme Court Justices, what can they give Alberta?
Take LESS of our money. Quebec was a NET recipient.

Sovereignty laws will be struck down by the courts as not constitutional. What does "provincial sovereignty" get you? It literally will not make a difference in your daily life. If you truly cared about an independent Alberta you would nationalize power, gas, water, telcoms, and start credit unions instead. Without economic power and provincial crown corporations, you have no independence from central Canada.
