Common misconception. There are several separate sets of receptors in your eyes that attend to different senses (like balance) at a substantially faster refresh rate than the receptors that produce your visual field. Your high-focus color vision is the slowest of your ocular refresh rates. The fastest is balance at ~110hz I think. Not sure off the top of my head. VR people have hell with these topics because VR games have to hit 3x the FPS on both eyes at the same time to not make people barf xD
