Freud had this thing called sublimation. Basically the idea is that human beings repress their base / primitive impulses to have an organized civilization, and what these guys are doing is letting out their base impulses, which puts them at odds with it. In other words they're saying

It's related to the "Freudian slip" (Freud called it something else though) where unconscious impulses, fears and desires "slip" out which results from a contradiction between those things and one's conscious intentions.
That's why their signs look so... raunchy. Like, it looks *debased* like someone who goes to brothels and has disgusting sex but doing it in public in front of everyone.
