It should be considered a lapse of justice for any sentencing for any crime to occur more than a year after the crime was committed. Justice without reasonable swiftness isn’t justice at all. This is why we need AI to handle all misdemeanor infractions (parking tickets, speeding, etc) so that human judges can actually get things done. It’s ridiculous that these things take years and years and years, it’s a mockery of a functional justice system
