That’s how you should be looking at it. If you have a shit ton of money in bank, invest in stocks in solid companies that will survive SHTF, buy some silver, gold, and have a bit to buy supplies.
The main point is, don’t keep your life savings in fucking cash or in a bank account. The dollar is only gaining strength against other currencies - it’s still fiat that will fail….probably the last one to fail.

Silver has an inherent value same as bullets. Modern societies use it obviously can be used for electronics and solder. You can also trade food and work, but these obviously have inherent problems. It was needed, last for 1000's of years and highly valuable to the elite class. Even most bullets won't work after a 100 years.
