I don't know what answer you want, it can be the atomized societal structure where anyone is free to do as they please so no one can be trusted and half of the people on street don't look familiar to you at all. Part of it has to do with the zero tolerance bullying policies that did nothing but protect the bullies. Teachers were and are overwhelmingly incompetent women who don't want to do the job of determining right and wrong and just punish the victims instead of encouraging them to stand up for themselves and end the bullying. When those who influence the population in their formative years teach them conflict avoidance instead of resolution, you end up adults with gay coping mechanisms.
