A Chinese female journalist who broke down in tears after reporting on the shooting of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attempted suicide, Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP) and other media reported on 2 2 (local time). The reporter has been heavily criticised by Chinese netizens following the report. According to the media, Zeng Ying, a freelance Chinese reporter and entrepreneur living in Japan, recently attempted suicide.
On 8 August, Zeng Ying was criticised by Shanghai-based online media after she burst into tears during a live broadcast related to the shooting of former Prime Minister Abe. Zeng Ying reported at the time that "former Prime Minister Abe made a great contribution to the friendship between China and Japan" and "for the Japanese people, former Prime Minister Abe was a thoughtful leader".
Subsequently, various accusations against Ms Zeng Ying continued to appear on Weibo (the Chinese version of Twitter) and other Chinese social networking sites. On Weibo, one person wrote: "She is a traitor. Why are Chinese people shedding tears over Abe's death?" and "Follow Abe". Comments with the hashtag 'Zeng Ying cried for Abe' were queried more than 800,000 times.
Zeng Ying posted comments through social networking sites saying that she was not right professionally and apologised for her actions that hurt everyone's feelings, but the attacks on Zeng Ying did not stop. Even after Zeng Ying's suicide attempt, some Chinese netizens continued to condemn her.
Exasperated the same problems that have been plaguing Sino-Japanese relations ever since the war: Senkaku Islands dispute, Japanese remilitarization, Japanese recognition of war crimes, and economic competition.

This is true to some extent. The Japanese did have unique evil like Unit 731 but most of what they did is just typical warcrimes that happen in every war.
