2000s vs. 2020s

Why did 9/11, a bullshit war, a housing market collapse and brutal financial crisis have no effect on people's happiness? Nobody gave a shit about race, being suicidal was considered emo and not just the default state of being. Men and women got along fine even with dating websites existing and all the music was pop/EDM, nobody was dying of fentanyl at festivals like zoomers today. Where did all the hope go?

The internet changed everything.

Learn how confirmation bias twists your understanding of the past. Stop being a nostalgia fag. Etc.

you can tell it's 2000s in the picture due to the lack of piercings and tattoos. how depressing. why did women start ruining their bodies? tattoos "just because" are so gay.

social media

Any Western 2000s movie: "we are in deep shit and this country is falling apart."

Also average and more differentiated body types.
Girls didn't have the social pressure that they have now to conform to a specific type of body, like if everyone now needs to be and feel like a supermodel.
People were more natural because they didn't have to compare themselves with the others 24/7 on instagram and other social medias. Back when life wasn't a constant selfish competition

They're just following the trend

Not true. The internet was great before Millennials hijacked it and brought their conceit and narcissism into it, i.e social media and censorship. They were always brats, the Boomer's Golden Child, and that is why they ruined the internet.

Before millennials, GenX had a free, open, and uncensored internet, where everyone was valued by their words, where bullshitters would be exposed and wouldn't be tolerated. Millennials created social media to destroy forum-culture, so everything was about fakery, fake lifestyles, fake achievements, image over substance.

The best thing about forum was that people cared about what others had to say, instead of their appearence.
"Poser" was an insult, like when someone is "posing" as someone who isn't in reality. Now everyone is posing for their fake persona. Appearence has become everything they need to feel and judge others

i guess you're right. it was paris hilton, and now it's kim kardash. i miss the hilton idolers. at least those sluts looked nice. now every basic bitch is trying to get double d ass cheeks and bamboo lips. it's stupid af. what was before paris hilton and who will be after kim kardash?

>forum-culture
Virtually all forums were no different to reddit what with namefagging, karmawhoring, attentionwhoring and powertripping mods. Go back to your phpBB shithole with 30 line signatures under every post and stay there.

Because nobody had smartphone and constant internet access back then. Today information is capillary, runs fast and everyone gets simultaneously freaked out because you can't just scroll IG looking for vaginas, you vill get ze blackpill and you vill be unhappy.

The internet before 2.0 and before the Iphone launch in 2007 was a playground for nerds and visionaries.

Once millenials got easy access to the internet, it quickly deteriorated and became a virtual highschool, where social points and exposure dictate worth. Futhermore any new idiotic little trend spread like a wildfire within days. Now add highly sexualized dating apps and a seemingly never ending and geographically unbound dating pool of thirsty men and voila, the internet has allowed a naive 19 year old woman to go from "cute, innocent and romantically naive" to "maneating narcissist with 0 regard for other people's feelings". From dating guys in her highschool/town to fucking countless socially unrelated men in a 20km radius.

The internet is a tool, which in the wrong hands ruins society.

There was no censorship, it was open rigorous debate. Nothing is permitted on Reddit. All of the internet used to be less censored than Any Forums. Even on Yahoo chat, people would be talking about everything.
You could meet people, talk/write, then meet up, and you'd have a good guage of them as people, whereas social media is entirely fakery that rewards liars, fakes, bullshitters, and there is no discourse beyond photosgraphs...as Larouche called social media, "a tombstone with a photo attached", is the most accurate description. It completely ruined the internet.

The picture is from 2009. I can tell you, life was shit in ‘09. We had smartphones and the internet, and other than a change in politics and the cut of woman’s jeans, nothing much has changed. If anything it was worse, because I couldn’t even find a job at McDonald’s despite being fresh out of college.

>Because nobody had smartphone and constant internet access back then

We may discuss here all day but honestly that's the main reason.
It's not about WHAT you do on the internet and smartphones so much as other anons say (need to pose, compare to each other, specific famous body types etc.) which of course they have a good impact but its just the fact that we use Internet. Just this. The time we spend on internet undermines human physical relations and contact with each other. Communication is worse. We may speak to each other from very far but when we are close... we have forgotten how to contact with them.
All things wr live right now re the implications of Internet.

2006/2007 was death of the internet. Normies adopted internet with social media and big tech started censoring everything to appease the lowest common denominator. It has been downhill since.

The forum used to be free for real.
The admins and the mods were the only people managing the forums. No superior rules and censorship from a centralized place like Reddit.
And the mods weren't weak tranny retards, they used to manage only when things escalated in flames, otherwise you were allowed to say anything you would, as long as you wasn't openly an asshole.
Now, the flames are encouraged for the engagement, and the actual debates that slightly go away from their set of allowed ones are instantly trimmed. It happens also in pol.
And also, posts were sorted in chronological order.
If you wanted more you had to manually browse the diferent sections, or search for different forums. You didn't have recommendation algorithms constantly pushing you to stay in the bubble they prepared for you

go outside, real people arent doomers, your mindbroken by living exclusively in Any Forums

something people forget is how badly reality TV screwed up people's basic demeanor and perception of life. for everyone; trump would not have been president without it and meghan thee stallion would not have been scissoring onstage at the grammies without trashy reality TV precursors for a decade+.

people playing a character based on themselves is vanity the bane of any sort of imagination.

also botox is mainstream now with 20 year olds. almost like a self-care thing sometimes.
