Michigan bros, who is the candidate replacing that woman from Michigan?

Are you going for Garrett Soldano?

I was just explaining this cunt to my boomer mother. She just kept saying >user that is illegal!!!

I'm writing in James Craig for governor. He's the only one who hasn't been in bed with all the Trump people for the last decade.

I know Any Forums is going to bitch about that last paragraph, but the only reason the trump crowd have power in Michigan at all right now is because the smarter republicans had all died out a generation earlier.

Party is open for a takeover by the sane; though they've pretty much fucked it all up this year

How did this far left cunt get elected in the first place?

I have no idea. I wasn't paying all too much attention to politics then.

James Craig is establishment trash. Michigan Republicans are a joke.

The democrats are better organized (and numerically superior) to the republicans in Michigan. Meanwhile, the republicans ran a boring old white guy who probably goes unnoticed in most rooms.

There is (or at least was) a better chance this year, since nearly anyone could run as the "anyone but" candidate against her. Craig had the best chance, and was winning right up until he got thrown off the ballot for being a complete idiot.

That being said, if enough people write him in, he's still got a chance to beat her in November. If not, then I'll hold my nose and vote for whoever the republicans run; as long as it isn't a complete trump kool aid drinker (knowing there's a difference between going along when you have to and being a true believer)

Are most of the democrats in Michigan in the Detroit area?

Ya, in a lot of ways; but politics (especially in michigan) is often about picking the least offensive.

He's an amateur in politics, so he doesn't know how to do shit himself. That means he'll need advice. And since he's not already in bed with the Trump crowd, that means he'll take it from all republicans and not just the red hats.

The problem with most republican candidates is that they mix inexperience with bad ideas and an inflated ego; so they run horrible campaigns with lousy platforms, and then convince themselves that they were robbed.

Both parties are a mere shadow of their former selves; living off the reputation of their grandparents

He's a nigger.

Go for Garret instead, especially if you didn't like lockdowns.

Short hand version...

Republicans:
> old absentee voters
> middle-class working men
> happily married women >37

Democrats:
> youth
> radical left
> old union types
> inner cities

In michigan it comes down to turnout. If both sides get full turnout, the dems win every time because there are more of them.

BUT... (and this is the big but)... the biggest blocks of democrats are lazy voters; and it's nearly impossible to get them motivated to vote. So you can get them out for Obama or (to a certain extent) hillary; but you can't keep their energy up enough to keep them voting all the time. This is why the dems are always looking for some life and death cause to get everyone worked up.

Snyder had a bad run with the Flint water crisis, and has a general unlikability to him. He got yelled at a few times in restaurants in Ann Arbor, leftist hellhole that it is, and for whatever reason, where he resides.
Rinke and Kelley seem like good picks, but I know they won't win. Michigan is a very split state and with Kelley having his Jan. 6th shit and Rinke blasting his dumb zombie ad (even if its true) just alienate people from them.

Soldano seems like a pretty good choice desu. I'd like to see what he can do in office.

The idea that Whitmer might run for president in 2024 makes my blood boil. I fucking hate her and even my leftie parents think she's a disaster, but she has huge popular support from retard uber libs.

As a supplemental about turnout, see image. In it, I tracked the voting habits of ~72k voters in one Michigan municipality over several years; using the 2008 election as a baseline for "if anyone was going to vote, it would be that election".

The chart takes those voters and askes "how many went on to vote in every election, and how many never voted again", breaking it down by age.

Whitner Newsom ticket.

Yes, the republicans of Michigan are garbage. They sat and did nothing while fat Cersei was a tyrant in the state thinking her negative ratings boosted them. They are all the same in Michigan D or R. It's just how can they give themself power and money. Michigan is a state of getting nothing done.

Craig could possibly be something different but his campaigns team sucks and he will never win anything with them

When fat Cersei ran in Michigan weed was also on the ballot bringing out young voters. Additionally, she played into the one thing everyone wanted and that was to "fix the damn roads" which she did nothing about.

a white guy had nothing to do with it.

A new map where Detroit will have a hard time rigging shit might be interesting. Just need to get rid of SPL J. Benson and we might have a clean election in our state.

Then we can truly see what turnout is.

She looks kinda sultry there ngl. In that moment I would come inside. Her.

On a side note; I'm an amateur historian who has spent the last few years researching Michigan 1815-1850. It's been going on since the beginning; and some of the stories you read are hysterical.

In 1837, the world was falling apart as a result of the Panic of 1837; and the dems in power were spending all their time trying to blame the Whigs. So you had stuff like this ad (see image) where people are willing to accept the bills from already closed banks rather than admit they were wrong.

Fascinating times. It's almost impossible to research because every history written has the spin of the author (who was usually involved with one side or the other). There are a few exceptions, but not many

They were so scared of this. when you see dirty politics being so publically shown to eliminate half the candidates, and some who have actually name recognition in Michigan you know there is a lot of concern

thought to bring home your point republicans in Michigan are terribly organized, and just stupid at times. You all used the same guy to collect signatures and then did no background checks on the guy you hire. It's 2022 deep diving into someone's history is not hard or expensive.

I've seen this a lot; and have even warned off a few from making the same mistake.
> person with potential talent gets interested in politics
> goes in, with no experience on the minutia of how shit works
> outsource everything to people who promise they know what's what
> get screwed by picking the first person who would talk to you.

The people who got pushed off the ballot got caught fair and square in a fuck up of their own creation. The issue of signatures in Michigan elections is so important that most candidates get 20% more than need and verify every page by hand themselves.

It's the first (and really only) requirement that matters if you're running for office; it's the very first step, and you're not allowed to fuck it up.
