Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall said Wednesday that some of America's aging A-10 Thunderbolt combat jets could potentially be given to Ukraine as part of continued efforts to help that country repel Russian forces.

No, they know exactly what they're doing. I guarantee you it would be retrofitted with mothballed pre-94 AN/ALR-69s. They want them down as an excuse to get new toys. It would be good PR for them if they could say, "Russia took them down, see, we need an upgrade. This plane is 50 years old". I'm confident they'd sandbag sending the newer and upgraded post-94 A(V) version of the RWR, under the guise of national security.

i think that without some fighter jets to cover it it wont last long. its a plane that isn't meant to go against other planes but ground targets so if a su 35 sees it its gonna get shot down. would be kino tho to see it goes against a frogfoot

The AF wants to get rid of the A-10, but the Army wants to keep them around. The Army would take the entire A-10 program off the AF's hands, but no go from AF. And so it's been for decades.
