Early slavs, when they migrated west and settled the literally empty lands germanics left when they pathetically fled from the huns (I shit you not, they all packed up and left - and they left to roman lands where they raped and destroyed - typical demons) they met germanics when they finally reached the elbe river. They tried to talk to them. And they got bestial noises and demonic gurgling in return. So early slavs named germanics the only thing they could: >mutes

I am absolutely convinced beyond any doubt that germanic languages are the same case as english, with the relationship with french in the case of english, and proto indo european in the case of proto germanic
there is 0 way this language itself is indo european, it has a bunch of indo european words, from being conquered by indo europeans, that much is a fact, but neither the sounds, nor the sentence structure, nor even most of the root words, are indo europeans
I just love that thousands of years ago, our based steppe ancestors came riding to europe clad in golden armors and riding war chars, and when they arrived, between massacring the natives, they would gather around campfires, making fun of them and their language, and that this campfire joke lives on until this day as a word in almost every european language, "the bar-bar-ians" (would be called the barbarers in english), an adjectived derived from an onomatope
