They're still dogshit here in bongland. The charging stations are few and far between, and those that do exist all require you to download an "app" to use them, but there's dozens of different vendors each requiring their own software, so if you drive around a lot you need to install dozens of things on your phone just to fucking charge your car. And every time you come across a new one it takes 10 minutes to download and install it, create an account, etc. and that's for the "free" ones. Some of them want you to fucking pay, when you're just parking for 10 minutes to buy something. And quite often all the charging points are occupied so there's a good chance you turn up somewhere with a charger and you still can't charge your car. I don't think these will be widely adopted until we have wireless charging available in ALL parking spaces, and it automatically and freely charges your car every time you park with zero user interaction. If you stop your car on a parking spot it's charging. Without that electric cars are a meme.

Yeah I'm sure they require a load of botnet-like permissions to run, it's a privacy nightmare, and 20 different companies are all doing the same thing and selling your data.
I don't think it's currently viable, we're a long way off having that, but until we get to that point electric cars are too inconvenient.

Electric cars will never be anything more than short range daily driver and that is assuming that enough get bought to continue to support the industry which I seriously doubt. Absent a serious breakthrough in battery capacitance I expect the industry will fail (or fall to niche level) in the next decade.
