I live with my dad because neither of us could survive alone without falling into severe poverty.

I've accepted I will never be able to buy a house with the current market or live anywhere nice with my income, with rent going into the $1000+ for a single room I'm pretty much religated to live with my parents or worse a mobile home

I bought a house after the first year of Covid and since then it went up 55k, had i bought it right before Covid it would be up over 100k right now.
house prices being so high are bullshit as always but interest rates are at 5% right now, its fucking ridiculous

I moved back in at 32 because I lost my job during the lockdowns and had nothing to pay for rent. Thinking of building an extension or something on the house and just staying if I dont find somewhere soon, I love being around my family so I dont really mind this, but It cant last.

It's cheaper, I'd rather live with people than be on my own and my family and I respect eachother's space and do our share of the cooking and housework.

I did move out, lived in my own place for over ten years but circumstance forced me back for a while, I used to get those old jokes all the time but now my mum and dad love having me around, coming home after work they smile seeing me come through the door asking me about my day.

I lived with my parents for a while, until i was like 26ish. When I was a kid I used to think living at home was for losers (pressure, lots of friends growing up who said as much, even so far as living in absolute garbage conditions just to get out of moms place) but I coupdnt really afford to move out.
A few years ago my house burned down and I lost everything, then covid hit. Lived with a friend for a while, he started to resent me so i moved back in with my parents in this dingy little house.
My parents fought a lot and generally pissed me off, so i started working at a shitty grocery store to pay for a room in an appt, 675 a month, not bad at all.
Got kicked out though so now i pay about a grand a month for this little spot down the street from my parents. Its pretty cool, but ive basically given up on ever owning a home.

I'm 30 and I'm actually worried about the perception of living with my mom because I invited her to live with me for a few years before she moves back to her home country after retirement. She moved across the country to follow me when I moved away from home and was renting a room in a house. She's fed up with living there and prices for single-person living is sky high where we live, so I invited her to be my roommate in a nice condo I've been living in for about 6 years now because my current one is moving out at the end of next month.

But now I'm worried about my social life because I'll be living with my mom.
