It is a terribly destructive ideology, in fact it has proven to be the most destructive ideology ever created and we are still suffering from it today. It produces nothing but misery. There are men far more educated and experienced than me, so feel free to read their works and they'll lay out why it's so terrible.
As to the second part of your question, "trying properly", if I'm being generous, likely refers to the idea that the state will dissolve once Communism is achieved. This will never, ever be the case, as complex structures don't voluntarily deconstruct themselves, and human nature prevents this from being a long term state of affairs. Something, most likely an opposing party, would occupy the vacuum left by the state's dissolution, if not the reduction of the nation to a bunch of fiefdoms or worse - warlords.
Communism is the wishful thinking of young idealists, and the strategy of Jews and other power brokers to transfer wealth and territory from historical businessmen and landowners without due process or compensation. It is aggressive malevolence for its own sake dressed in piety.

Seems the only proper way to try it is for there to be a cult of personality around a glorified leader and for that leader to advocate for a genocide of an other after laying the blame for his specific groups misfortune in life at the feet of these people and saying "if we just get rid of them, everything will be better". It happened in Russia, it happened in Cambodia, it happened in Laos, it happened in China. In every single instance that Communism was attempted, a genocide occurred. Communism killed more people world wide than the first and second world wars.
