This is splitting hairs. Russia has been doing nothing but firing artillery and making occasional bombing runs. They want to keep the infrastructure somewhat usable. If Putin wanted to go all out, he'd have already carpet bombed these cities a hundred times over.

there was literally no battle
they parked in front of kiev and pinned the majority of ukraines army from sending held to mariupol and the south
when mariupol was taken they withdrew and began their donbas operation
the ukrainians literally drew Z or V on their own destroyed convoys because russian helicopters kept destroying them and the ukrainian logistics drivers were afraid to do their work

So I work with a bunch of (older) Russian engineers and computer scientists. The one thing that I noticed is that they have huge egos. Their attitude is “I’m right and I’m always going to say it in a way that makes me sound super confident and demeans everyone else”. It’s really fun when they turn out to be wrong and seeing them trying to save face (while still managing to somehow demean everyone else and preserve their egos). I’ve found this to be consistent with my dealings with Russians outside of work and in other professions.
