Stauffenberg was deluded. There was no possibility of peace with the West. The political establishments of both Great Britain and America desired Germany's destruction even before the war began. There was no way that they would accept a separate peace and allow the Germans to continue fighting the Soviet Union, Churchill and Roosevelt were perfectly fine handing over Poland and most of Eastern Europe to the Russians in exchange for Germany's defeat.
