Germany was a resource starved nation that couldn't even gather 11 million people, clothe them, feed them and then expensively execute them using an experimental revision of a delousing agent.

Even with our cremation technologies today, bones have to burned at 1800 degrees for 4 hours straight. Then, they have to rigorously grind them up into a fine powder, still leaving big fragments behind. I'd imagine 75 years ago burning bodies in fields with gasoline would leave behind a good amount of evidence.
