Christianity is better with tests and trials. God is testing us for something he has going on in a much grander cosmic sense. He needs souls. Strong souls. Virtuous souls. We are cycled on this Earth every lifetime, tried and tested to bring out our strengths and expunge our weaknesses. God does love us, which is why he never gives up on a soul. He will keep cycling you through until you have been purified. Eventually you will join him on his mighty crusade.
It explains how there can be horrible things in the world. It's there to test you, to see how you react. Evil is done by man, by the dark parts of the soul. You must fight that evil in others as well as yourself, for the greater good of all mankind.
